Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 September 2026

Please read these terms before using Equity & Markets Insight. By using the site or creating an account, you accept them.

1. Who we are

Equity & Markets Insight (equityandmarketsinsight.com) is operated by Equity & Markets Insight.

Contact: equityandmarketsinsight@gmail.com.

2. Nothing here is investment advice

  • Everything on this site is general information and commentary. It is published for a general audience and takes no account of your circumstances, objectives, finances or tax position.
  • We do not give personal recommendations or regulated investment advice, and nothing here should be read as a suggestion that any particular investment is suitable for you.
  • Equity & Markets Insight is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • The value of investments can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you put in. Past performance tells you nothing reliable about future returns.
  • Decisions you make are your own. If you are unsure, speak to a suitably qualified independent financial adviser.

Our own views may be wrong, and frequently are, and we may hold positions in companies we write about. Where we do, we say so.

3. Market data, and how current it is

The prices and company information on this site come from third-party data providers.

  • Prices are delayed and are not live. They are refreshed a few times each trading day. Every page that shows a price also shows the time that price was captured — please look at it.
  • We take reasonable care, but we cannot guarantee that any figure is accurate, complete or current, and we are not responsible for errors in data supplied to us.
  • Data on this site is for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not redistribute, resell, or systematically extract it.

4. The portfolio tool — what it is and is not

The portfolio tool is not yet available. This section applies from the day it is.

The portfolio records what you tell it and values it using the delayed prices described above. Four things it is not:

  • It is not a broker statement or a record of your actual holdings. It only knows what you have entered.
  • It is not a tax record. Do not rely on it for capital gains or any other tax calculation.
  • It does not handle corporate actions automatically. If a company you hold carries out a share split, consolidation, or similar event, the tool will not adjust your position. You will need to close the position at the old price and re-enter it at the new one. We try to alert you when a price movement suggests this has happened, but we cannot promise to catch every case, and until you correct it the figures shown for that holding may be wrong.
  • Where we do not have enough price history, we show nothing rather than a guess. A dash in a performance column means the data is not available, not that the return was zero.

Keep your own records. Do not rely on this tool as your only record of anything that matters.

5. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
  • Give accurate registration details and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password secure, and do not let anyone else use your account. Tell us at equityandmarketsinsight@gmail.com if you think it has been compromised.
  • One account per person.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we reasonably suspect misuse. Where we can, we will tell you why.

6. Free and Premium access

There are two kinds of account: Free and Premium.

A free account is free for as long as we offer it. It gives you:

  • RNS announcements older than three days.
  • Up to three articles per calendar month. The count resets on the first of each month.
  • My companies and My news.
  • The free newsletters.

Premium, when it goes on sale, is £9.99 a month. It adds:

  • RNS announcements as they are published.
  • Unlimited articles.
  • The premium notification lists.
  • The portfolio tool when it ships. Section 4 applies to it.

Premium starts with a free trial. How it works:

  • Two months free.
  • We take your card details when the trial starts, but nothing is charged until the trial ends.
  • We email you a reminder before the first payment is taken.
  • Cancel before then and you pay nothing.
  • Cancel later and your access runs to the end of the month you have paid for. We do not refund the month you are in.
  • We can change the price only with at least thirty days' notice by email, and never during a trial or a month you have already paid for.

Premium is not yet on sale. Until it is, every account has full access, and we will tell account holders before that changes.

Payments are taken by our payment provider, not by us. We never see or store your card number. Where VAT applies, it is included in the price.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content or data.
  • Republish or redistribute our content or the market data without permission.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or another user's account.
  • Reverse engineer, interfere with, or place unreasonable load on the service.
  • Use the site for anything unlawful.

8. Our content

The articles, research, analysis, design and code on this site belong to us or our licensors. You may read, share links to, and quote short extracts with attribution. You may not reproduce substantial parts without permission.

What you enter stays yours. Your portfolio entries and watchlist belong to you. You can export or delete them at any time.

9. Availability

We do our best to keep the site running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend, or withdraw features — including the tools — and we may need to take the site down for maintenance.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, and because this service is provided free of charge:

  • We are not liable for investment losses, or for decisions you make on the basis of anything on this site.
  • We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or indirect or consequential loss.
  • We are not liable for inaccuracies in third-party data, or for interruptions to the service.

This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Ending it

You can close your account at any time from your account page. We may end your access as set out in section 5. Sections 2, 3, 8 and 10 survive the end of these terms.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and if a change is significant we will tell account holders by email. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
